Requirements
for a Major in Art History
A major consists of 31
credits, which must include:
Art History: Ancient through Medieval
Art (ARHY 111)
Art History: Renaissance through Modern Art (ARHY 112)
The one-credit Capstone Tutorial (ARHY 400)
Of the remaining 24 credits, three credits may be above the 112 level, and 21 credits must be above the 200 level. Students also have the opportunity to take one archeology course, which is usually cross-listed with the Department of Classics, and one History course to apply towards their major.
Students who intend to continue their studies
in Art History at the graduate level are encouraged
to attain a reading knowledge of the foreign languages
appropriate to their area of interest.
Requirements
for a Minor in Art History
Fifteen credits, of which nine must be in courses
above the 100 level.
