BROWNE, E. Tsekani (University of California-Los Angeles), Assistant Professor of History. Joining the department in 2005, Professor Browne enriches offerings in African-American history and American intellectual history. His dissertation examines the ideas of Anna Julia Cooper, one of the most important figures in the intellectual community of Washington D.C. during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He has taught at California University of Pennsylvania as a Frederick Douglass Fellow and at Scripps College. He teaches courses on African-American history, including specific aspects of gender, violence, and civil rights.
