STONGE, Carmen L. (City University of New York), Assistant Professor of Art History. Dr. Stonge specializes in nineteenth- and twentieth-century European art and American modern and contemporary painting and sculpture. As the former Director of the Amelie A. Wallace Gallery at the College of Old Westbury (New York), Dr. Stonge has practical experience in museology, which contributes to her expertise and continuing research on arts institutions. She also has interests in Northern Renaissance art and in the history of patronage, collecting, and exhibitions. Dr. Stonge's current research focuses on German women artists of the early twentieth century. Her most recent publications include "Women of the Folkwang" in the Woman's Art Journal and Making Private Collections Public: Waagen and the Royal Museum of Berlin, in the Journal of the History of Collections. Dr. Stonge is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Stony Brook Chapter.
