The Department of Historys Graduate Program
provides opportunities for advanced students
to pursue the study of History in a challenging
and supportive environment. To serve
the many students who choose to pursue History
beyond their undergraduate careers, Duquesne has
two programs that lead to the Master's Degree
in History. In addition, it offers graduate education at times convenient
for the working professional as well as the full-time
student. All of our classes are scheduled in the
evenings and both of our programs are open to
part-time as well as full-time students.
Duquesne offers a Master's Degree in Historical Studies
program. This tract prepares students for further
graduate study. It also provides high quality, subject-based
graduate courses for those who are already teaching
in secondary schools or who wish to teach in them.
Duquesne also offers a Master's Degree in Public History
with a concentration in Archival, Museum, and
Editing Studies (AME). This program primarily prepares
students for work in the expanding field of Public
History, although some AME students have also
gone on to additional graduate education beyond
their master's.
Students in both programs take
most of their courses together, giving them the
benefit of interaction with the widest possible
range of peers and faculty, while still enabling
them to focus on what they need in order to pursue their
careers.
The History Department's
Graduate Program offer its students stimulating
courses taught by well-respected scholars who
are committed to sharing their knowledge with
their students.
