Progress toward a degree is measured by the cumulative
grade point average. The scholastic records of students
who fail to meet the minimum requirements as established
by the faculty of the College will be submitted
to the College Student Standing Committee for review
and appropriate action. Normally, academic records
will be reviewed at the conclusion of each regular
semester.

12.2 Student
Standing Committee
Each undergraduate school
of the university has its own Student Standing
Committee. The composition of these committees
varies from school to school but always includes
faculty. The College Student Standing Committee
is advisory to the Dean of the College and is
charged with the following responsibilities:
• Decisions on any departure from academic
policy or curricular requirement.
• Decisions on permission to drop or withdrawal
from a course after the official deadline dates.
• Determination of academic standing. The
Committee recommends which students should be
placed on academic warning, academic probation
or academic dismissal in accordance with University
guidelines. Appeals on academic dismissal may
be made to the Committee when extenuating circumstances
exist.
In all instances, students must submit their requests
to the Committee in acceptable written form in
care of the College Office, room 212 College Hall.
The Committee will respond by mail. The Committee
will meet throughout the academic year as the
need arises and at the close of each semester.
