Those students within the McAnulty College of Liberal Arts who prefer not to choose a formal major course of study offered by a traditional discipline may design for themselves a Liberal Arts major. This major allows for the election of a concentration in either the humanities or social sciences, or it may be built around a theme that brings together courses in both the humanities and social sciences.

"My goal in creating a self-designed Liberal Arts major was not just to learn, but to teach myself how to learn, because education is a life-long process, not a four-year program."  Diane Amdor

"It is only by crossing what I consider to be arbitrary boundaries between social sciences and humanities that I can receive an education that really challenges and inspires me."  Peter Sluk
