Welcome
to the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal
Arts, a college with a century-long tradition and
a strong vision for its future. The College is the
oldest school in the University and the heart of
Duquesne.
Duquesne is a friendly, safe
place, right in the city but self-contained, set
apart on its own beautiful hilltop. It is a university
large enough to have professors who are at the
leading edge of their fields, but small enough
that professors know you as an individual student.
Key to Duquesne's vision is
a spirit of service, combined with academic excellence.
You see that spirit in the way faculty interact
with students: they encourage you, they demand
your best, and they want you to participate in
their research. You also see the Duquesne spirit
in the impressive volunteer work that students
give to the community around us - for example
in soup kitchens, tutoring, coaching and clean-up
days.
One of Duquesne's strengths
is its general education core curriculum, housed
in the College, which gives every new student
rich opportunities to explore many disciplines
before choosing a major. Your academic advisor
in the College, your faculty mentors, and Duquesne's
counseling center and testing resources can also
help you make this important school and career
decision.
I thought you might like specific
additional information on what the College can
offer you. Perhaps the best way to accomplish
this would be for me to ask one of the faculty
or staff to give you a call to answer any of your
questions and to tell you more about the excellent
programs you can expect to find here.
If you would like such a call,
please send us an e-mail message, and we will
ask someone to call you. To arrange for a visit
to campus, please call the Admissions Office at
412-396-5221, or send e-mail to admissions@duq.edu.
I am excited about the possibility
of your coming to Duquesne. Best wishes as you
make your decison about a school and complete
your preparations for this next exciting phase
of your life.
Sincerely,
Albert C. Labriola, Ph.D.
Acting Dean
